To obtain an ECTN, shippers must first register with the CAR government and obtain a Shipping Identification Number (SIN). Once the SIN has been obtained, the shipper must apply for an ECTN from the CAR customs authority.
The ECTN must be obtained prior to shipment and must be included on the shipping documents. The ECTN is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
